Via Crucis – the annual Passiontide concert

Naxxar Parish Church

On Wednesday 21st March at 7.30pm the Jubilate Deo Choir will be performing its annual Passiontide concert at the Parish Church of Naxxar.

During the first part of the evening the choir’s own Cappella Gregoriana will lead us through the various stages of the Holy Week in an original concept by the choir’s Music Director Christopher Muscat that will see experiments on the traditional plainchant of the Holy Week liturgy combined with original works for percussion, composed and performed by Renzo Spiteri.

The second part of the evening will be dedicated to the monumental Via Crucis by Franz Liszt which gives a dramatic musical interpretation of the fourteen stages of the Cross with the participation of mezzo-soprano Claire Massa, baritone Louis Andrew Cassar and organist Ronald Camilleri who will be playing the historic 1775 Santucci organ.

Entrance is free but tickets must be reserved by e-mail on
